Wastewater treatment plants play an important role in climate protection – but only if we truly understand their emissions

At this year’s in-person meeting of the DWA Working Group KA 2.1 “Data Collection on Direct Greenhouse Gas Emissions,” members gathered at Wi.Tec in Wesel to discuss current topics related to emissions measurements at wastewater treatment plants.

The focus was particularly on:

🔹 The validation and verification of N₂O measurement data, as well as coordinating the next steps for a planned working report.

🔹 The current status of the DWA-M 230-4 guideline on N₂O measurements at wastewater treatment plants.

🔹 The use and benefits of methane measurements at wastewater treatment plants and their importance for sound data collection on greenhouse gas emissions.

Another highlight was the presentation by Wi.Tec-Sensorik GmbH, followed by a tour of the company and insights into current sensor technologies.

Many thanks to the Wi.Tec team for their hospitality and the interesting exchange!
